Liz Mair comes from a very politically active family and holds a degree in International Relations from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Her dissertation was on refugee movements and regional conflicts.

She holds a certificate in Political Science from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris and she earned her law degree from the College of Law in England.
