Fred exceeded expectations, sure, but I'm not sure he won. He KO'd Romney with that last line, which I liked, but I'm not sure the rest was a total home run.

I think Rudy won-- just. But he didn't distinguish himself as much as he should have.

McCain also did well, despite evidently not being able to hear half of the questions.

I have been often accused of being too harsh on CO-Sen candidate and Republican Bob Schaffer (including by some people working for some very prolific and powerful Republicans in DC). No mind. George Allen is backing Fred Thompson. I guess this is a good thing, as long as he doesn't say too much and avoids video cameras like the plague. There is a risk that this reinforces negative stereotypes about the kind of person attracted to Thompson (southern, male, white, dim/foot-in-mouth), as well, but my hope is that with the debate tomorrow, Thompson will start putting paid to those kinds of suggestions where made about him, directly. So, yesterday I learned that on FOX, errant Republican Rep. Walter B. Jones of North Carolina said he'd be co-sponsoring this resolution the Democrats are talking about bashing Rush Limbaugh.
